Maui Nō Ka ‘Oi
“Maui nō ka ‘oi,” means: “Maui is the best.” And, for those who visit this Hawaiian Island, this expression couldn’t be more true. I was lucky enough spend 16 blissful years there, at times even taking for granted all it had to offer. Aloha (/ɑːˈloʊhɑː/; Hawaiian: [əˈloːˌha]) is the Hawaiian word for love, affection, peace, compassion and mercy, that is commonly used as a simple greeting but has a deeper cultural and spiritual significance to native Hawaiians.
Everyone knows everyone and since the entire island of Maui is only 727 sq. mi, you’re bound to run into a familiar face just about anywhere you go. They exude the “Aloha” spirit and that is something to love about Hawaii. In my time there, I also truly got to explore the artistic aspect of construction, really honing in on myself as a designer. I was able to perfect my craft of specializing in both kitchen and bathroom remodels and was lucky enough to be featured in the local papers of Maui. I worked with tropical material such as natural fiber bamboo inlay, creating walls and restaurant bars, I installed sleek slabs of granite and quartz producing exclusive countertops, designed many distinctive arches generating a Mediterranean vibe and also hand shaped beautiful iron work constructing rare one of a kind fences and railings. These are just a few examples of what makes my work as a contractor and designer unique.
If you ever get the chance to experience the island, I strongly suggest you do so. In the meantime, please check out these articles in which I was featured.
